culinary masterclassesin Guba
Guba is also famous for its sweets bukma and pakhlava, which are made at homes and small bakeries all around the city. Popular as a dessert or snack, Guba’s local variety of pakhlava is comprised of multiple layers of dough filled with ground and caramelised walnut, soaked in syrup and honey, and usually served with ground nuts. Bukma is made with the same ingredients but differs in shape and is lighter. To see exactly how they are made, you can visit some local bakeries in the city centre which will be more than happy to put on an ad hoc culinary masterclass. These can be arranged through private guides or the Guba Destination Management Organisation.
